How to use it

  1. Write your post in the box, or paste one in.
  2. Select the words you want to stand out and press B or I. Press again to undo the style.
  3. Check the preview. The first lines are what people see before they press “see more.”
  4. Press Copy and paste the post into LinkedIn.

How bold works on LinkedIn

LinkedIn's post box has no bold or italic button. This tool swaps your letters for Unicode characters that look bold or italic, so the style travels with the text wherever you paste it.

Use it sparingly

These are different characters from normal letters, and that has a cost. Screen readers can read them badly or skip them, and search may not match a styled word to the normal one. Keep names, links and whole sentences plain, and save the style for a few words.

Questions

Does it store my post?

Not on our side. The tool runs in your browser, and your text is never sent to us. Your browser keeps a copy until you close the tab, so a click away doesn't lose your draft.

Why do some letters stay the same?

Only A–Z, a–z and 0–9 have these forms, so letters like é or я don't change. Italic has no digits, so numbers stay as they are in italic text.

Why does the count jump when I style text?

Each styled letter takes two units of storage where a normal letter takes one. The counter uses the higher number, so you stay under LinkedIn's 3,000-character limit either way.

Will bold text change my reach?

We know of no evidence either way. Use it to make a post easier to read.
