How to schedule tweets from Claude or ChatGPT
Link your X account to postmoderno, then link postmoderno to Claude or ChatGPT. Simply request posts and threads for your desired time. Discover what can be posted, X's pricing structure, and when X's native scheduler suffices.
You can schedule tweets by simply asking Claude or ChatGPT. The process involves connecting your X account to postmoderno once, linking postmoderno to your AI client, and then specifying what content to publish and when. Postmoderno will handle the publishing at that exact time, regardless of whether your laptop is currently open.
While X now officially calls them “posts,” users still frequently search for “tweets.” Consequently, this guide uses both terms interchangeably.
What you can schedule on X
- Posts capped at 280 characters, calculated the way X counts them.
- Threads, structured as replies nested under the original post.
- Up to four images per post, or a single video.
Not yet supported: posts exceeding 280 characters, even on X Premium.
Set it up
- Sign in at postmoderno.io using your email address. No password or credit card is required.
- Within the app, navigate to connections, select X, and approve postmoderno on x.com.
- Connect your AI client. The setup guide outlines the steps for ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, and Cursor. If you encounter connection issues with Claude, this guide details how to resolve each error.
This entire setup takes roughly five minutes.
Ask for a post
Interact with your agent just as you would a human colleague:
Schedule “we just shipped dark mode” on X for tomorrow at 9am.
The agent will present a preview before finalizing: showing the account, the time in both your timezone and UTC, and which part of your plan is being utilized. It will only schedule the post after you confirm with a “yes.”
Here are a few more prompts to try:
- “Turn these release notes into a five-post thread for Thursday at 15:00.”
- “Write this as a short post for X and a longer one for LinkedIn, both Tuesday at 14:00.”
- “What goes out this week?”
- “Move tomorrow’s post to 10:30.”
If you manage multiple X accounts, specify which one you intend to use.
Write the thread first
The free X character counter can split long text into a thread for you to review before handing it off. If you prefer your agent to generate the thread, our free skills teach it exactly how X ranks posts.
What it costs
X charges for every post sent through its API, meaning X posts created via postmoderno draw from a wallet in addition to your plan’s standard post count. The free plan provides a small credit for 7 days after connecting X, while paid plans include credits monthly. Pricing details how many posts each plan covers, including those containing links.
A post with a link costs significantly more than a plain one, and a reply containing a link carries the same high cost. If the link isn’t the primary focus, omit it. What an X API post really costs provides the specific numbers.
When X’s own scheduler is enough
X offers its own native scheduler. Its help pages describe it within the Composer on ads.x.com, and X Pro includes one as well. If you only need to schedule a post occasionally, those native tools are sufficient.
An AI client becomes more valuable when you write batches of posts or adapt a single idea for other networks. It also ensures your voice remains consistent from one session to the next.
Questions
Is automating posts allowed on X?
Yes, provided you follow X’s automation rules. Avoid posting identical or nearly identical text from multiple accounts. If you operate more than one account, ask your agent to generate a unique version for each.
Do I need to keep my computer on?
No. postmoderno publishes from its own servers at the scheduled time, independent of your local device status.
Is my X password shared?
No. You approve postmoderno directly on x.com, and postmoderno never accesses your password.
Can I cancel a scheduled post?
Yes. You can ask your agent to do so, or use Cancel schedule within the app’s queue.
